Observe the Found

Just like I enjoy hole in the wall restaurants, I enjoy hole in the wall vintage shops as well.  Today on my way home from Downtown, LA I saw this cute crochet top on the mannequin that looked like perfect Coachella attire.  I parked the car and went into the store; it looked slightly unhip and unfinished but I took a look anyway and found great pieces at some serious low prices.   I had been so sick of second hand stores that are lined up on Melrose and Fairfax, and Vermont etc. etc... I forgot how amazing (and INEXPENSIVE) they can be.  I liked that it was simple, not overflowing with clothes, and smelled --normal (no grungy pre-worn smell).

So I'm glad to say I bought the white crochet top that caught my eye in the first place.

As well as this awesomely unique looking mesh/poly dress that can be turned into a skirt; will be perfect for a black tie event, or couture fashion shoot if ever I need.

They're having a bin sale this weekend...so go, go, go!

Item of the week

My favorite buy of this week is the most simple yet amazingly fabulous tank top I bought from H&M.

Initially it was bought for a photo shoot I was styling; after the shoot I tried on the tank top and decided it was a keeper.  The fabric is insanely light and comfortable, the color is neutral and extremely matchable, and it can be worn casual during the day, or tied up in the back to shorten, thrown on heavy jewelry and skinny jeans to wear on a night out.  Comes in an array of colors and the deal breaker?  $5.95!  Yes, really.   Check it out below..

Boho on the runway

A few of my have bohemian look this week and why...

Simple, fun, chic.  This look is perfect for a day look; put on a pair of gold chandelier earrings and look effortlessly amazing.

By Obakki

Amazingly bohemian in every sense of the world.  This dress makes me want to get married in a field on infinite sunflowers and apple trees.  Dress by of course: Band of Outsiders. (Love them)

This is some serious chic.  Perfect for work; simple but the necklaces give it the necessary pop the outfit needs.  Turning a plain preppy look into something I would rock in a second!

By St. John

So New York it makes me want to hop on a plane and scurry around the city in this.  The mixture of the tigers with covered in shorts and the Sweater to give you a warmer layer is fantastic.  I love it because it's playful, edgy, and comfortable.

Lasly, a great going out look by The Lake & Stars.  I love this so incredibly much; it has a great sexiness because of the sheer fabric mixed with the chance to show off your legs.  But it's perfectly appropriate due to the collar and button up closure keeping you classy and sexy at the same time.

Red Carpet Looks*

Miss Ericka Atwell.  Dress: Seduce, Necklace: Forever 21, Shoes: Michael Kors.  Mix and match designers and pricing ALWAYS!  If you can't borrow Harry Winston just yet, remember the red carpet is the only time you want to be seen in certain outfits/jewelry.  Don't invest too much!

Why I chose this look: Ericka was there to interview guests attending the event.  She needed to be dressed to the nines, but didn't want to outshine the guests to remain professional.  I wanted to accentuate the positive and hide what she isn't the most comfortable with.  She has been working hard on her arms and abs, so a tight fitted dress that cuts off just at the mid thigh was perfect.  It elongated her legs without showing more than she wanted.  The one arm and deep cut in the back gave it a sex appeal but nothing over the top or... slutty.  It was simple, edgy, classy, and fun!  The perfect choice for any red carpet look.

Enjoy a quick glimpse at what I styled miss Atwell in:

And the winners are...

It was hard to pick a favorite, but I felt these dresses not only looked fantastic on the women wearing them but suited their personalities and personal styles.  I didn't feel as if they were forcing themselves to wear this dress; instead they were just more chic, elegant versions of themselves.

Vanity Fair after party

Two images below were my faves from the bunch of the Vanity Fair party at Sunset Towers.

The first one with Tom Ford, Sofia Vergara, and Nick Loeb looks like an ad for alcohol or... Tom Ford possibly.  It's so fabulously chic and candid, I only wish I could have been sitting at that table.

On the other end of the chic spectrum: Two of my favorite actresses (and coincidentally Sofias co-star) Julie Bowen and Leslie Mann; two female actresses that I feel have the chops to out funny many of the men in Hollywood and this photo right here is proof.

Hipsta Chick of the Week

I was perusing through the Stylelist website this morning and stumbled upon this article about one of people who finally see Lady Gaga is overrated.  I was instantly intrigued and did further research on this fantastic lady who goes by the name DJ Binki Shapiro.  Below is the quote:
What is your prediction for most overplayed song during Fashion Week?
Anything by Lady Gaga.
What song should never be played at a fashion show?
Anything by Lady Gaga?

I continued to look into her only to find she is in a band called Little Joy with Los Hermanos singer/guitarist Rodrigo AmaranteThe Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti and Binki Shapiro.  For any strokes fan, or real fan of music, you will be impressed.

The bestest best part about Binki... she is currently one of Phillip Lims muses.  Fashion goddess, hipster queen, and musical genius.  Instant obsession starts now...

One Wonderful Acid Trip...

These fantastically funky, wacky, ridiculously creative outfits by Jeremy Scott were inspired by Lisa Franks trapper keepers.  One of the best memorabilia's of my child hood.  Enjoy...

Photoshoot

Yesterday I styled a photoshoot for an up and comer in the music industry.  We shot at a BEAUTIFUL home in Los Angeles.  It was very indian/middle eastern inspired decor, so I went with bold colors.  I streamline specific colors throughout each outfit so it would be funky but still have some order to it so it didn't get messy looking.  Below are a few of the looks on the artist Kai Pineda!

Enjoy xo <3
