When in doubt, belt it out.

Big chunky belts have been in style for about 3 years now. I remember putting on my friend thick black belt and thinking how this has forever changed my life. Often times the belt can help make you appear thinner than you are. I call it the belt diet. If you wear them on your waist it suck on all the middle part and gives you this beautiful curvacious look.

...as I said, Alice from Alice in Wonderland is my homegirl. I love this image and this look, which is so easy to achieve and pull off (or at least I think).

I was on my stumbleupon.com account going through fashion websites as always and 'stumbed upon' a great blog about this dancer from the last 1800's to early 1900's. Ruth St. Denis was a famous dancer and dance teacher known for her over the top costumes.

Give me leather leggin's and suede RED platform pumps and call it a day. Daisy Lowe was featured in London Vogue as 1 of the 10 girls who is a "Dash Cash Heroine", traslation: she's got it; a slim budget, a creative self established style, and a great bod to rock it.

....then maybe we can put real women in magazines. Germany is doing just that. Following in the footsteps of Glamour, Brigette, a prominent fashion magazine in Germany "will use only "real woman" from now on to illustrate its stories, declared its editor, who said he was "fed up" with having to retouch pictures of underweight models who bear no resemblance to readers. "For years we've had to use Photoshop to fatten girls up," said Andreas Lebert. "This is disturbing and perverse. Models weigh around 23% less than normal women. The whole model industry is anorexic."

Edun continues its support of ALAFA with the help of purchases of our ONE tees. Their recent donation of $45k takes their total contribution to $631,330. Keep on purchasing...
ALAFA stands for the Apparel Lesotho Alliance to Fight AIDS. It was launched in Maseru in May 2006 to provide prevention and treatment for the more than 40000 mainly women Basotho workers in the textile and apparel industry, one third of whom are estimated to be infected with HIV.
ALAFA is an industry-wide programme providing education and prevention, voluntary testing and counselling, and management of AIDS through the roll-out of care and treatment for HIV-positive workers and, since 2009, also fheir spouses. The project is driven by humanitarian concerns and the need to make the industry sustainable in the long term and protect these key jobs. It is hosted by the Lesotho Textile Exporters Association and supported by both the private sector and international donor agencies.
ALAFA received the Drivers of Change Award in the business category in 2008. The project was also commended in the 2009 Business Excellence Awards of the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

So I decided at midnight to try to take on the role of a designer...sort of. I went online to research how to "destroy" jeans. Up came a link from the DIY website with a video. I quickly became bored watching them, but took note to the tools used for this process. I grabbed a cheese/lemon grater, an exact-o knife, and a piece of cardboard. I put the cardboard inside the leg, put a few light slights in the leg of the jean, and then went to town with the grater. I found that "grating" the denim first is probably a better idea. After I went to town, I took them to my big sink in the laundry room and bleached the blue out of them. Threw them in the washer (alone) and then dried them (which helps rip the jeans more). My results are to the left. Before & After!
